"Your Style" Sub Sandwich

This recipe is part of our 5-Day School Lunch Menu.

Ingredients:

1 Small submarine bun (whole wheat is an option)
2 slices of low-salt deli meats (or cooked left overs) - i.e. turkey, ham, chicken, pork
1 Slice of low fat cheese - cheddar or mozzarella
Vegetables of your choice - lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cucumber
1 1/2 tsp Dressing or Mayo (Low Fat)

Directions:

  • Have your child take part by creating his or her own sandwich. The order of the ingredients is unimportant, but make it essential they choose at least one vegetable for their sub.

Hint:

  • Pre-measure the dressing or mayo and show your child the quantity they should use.
